The Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006
Netherlands, Antilles, October 2006 – ReferSpot (www.referspot.com) comments on the impact of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006 on its affiliates.
Company spokesperson, Irwin Reuben, comments:
"This Bill aims to prevent US banks and US financial intermediaries from accepting and processing certain online gaming-related transactions. The Bill does not make online casinos illegal, however, it does have an impact on players in certain US states.
The Bill has been reviewed by Grand Privé's legal counsel and, after close consultation with experts in the online gaming industry, it has been decided that in order to comply with this Bill, the Grand Privé Group will regrettably not accept wagers from players in these affected jurisdictions. We wish to make it clear that all players in these states will be communicated to on a personal level and that all cash balances will be refunded."
Players outside the prohibited states will be able to enjoy their online gaming as per usual. Reuben adds: "ReferSpot will continue to conduct business as usual in the remaining states and welcome any affiliates who wish to continue growing their business with us."
